Whistler Blackcomb Foundation

Funding

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation is dedicated to the financial support of registered non-profit organizations who are qualified donees under the Canada Income Tax Act, whose activities will provide benefit to the residents of the Sea to Sky Corridor. Support from the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation is given in the form of dollar ($) grants. We do not provide funding for operational costs or salaries. The Foundation typically supports programs in the areas of health, human services, education, recreation, the arts, culture and the environment, with an emphasis on children, youth and family programs.

Fundraising

Our fundraising is achieved through two major fun filled charity sports events - the TELUS Winter Classic and the TELUS Mountain Valley Golf Classic - and the very successful Founder’s Pass Program. For each event, we use corporate sponsorship, individual ticket sales and the generosity of local community donors to raise funds.

In 2006, the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation was thrilled to announce another fundraising initiative made possible by the generosity of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. As a result of the continuing expansion on Whistler Mountain, a “Founders Run” was created in the new Symphony Amphitheatre.

The intention of this run is to auction off the naming rights annually in order to raise funds to improve the quality of life for residents in our local communities. In its first year, the Foundation decided not to auction off the run but instead dedicated the inaugural year naming to the memory of Jeff Harbers. “Jeff’s Ode To Joy” is accessible off of the new Symphony Express. For more information about future naming rights, please contact Mei McCurdy, Executive Director.

How to Apply For Funding

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation accepts funding applications twice per year. The Funding deadlines are October 1 and April 1 annually.

  1. Funding applicants are invited to complete our funding application form and submit it on or before the specified deadline. Applicants can also call the Foundation office at 604.938.7321 to request an application form be faxed to them. Faxed application forms should be forwarded to Fax # 604.938.7337 on or before the specified deadline.
  2. The Foundation's Funding Committee will review all applications and make a recommendation to the Board of Directors 4-6 weeks after each submission deadline date.
  3. The Executive Director will notify applicants via phone or mail about the status of their request shortly after the Board of Directors meet. In most cases, cheques will be mailed out to successful grant recipients at that time.

We thank you for your interest in the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation and the Sea to Sky community.
