Summer Glacier Skiing/Riding

From its early days as the summer hotspot for snowboarders to a modern day training ground for freestyle skiers and riders, Blackcomb’s Horstman Glacier is the place to ski and ride during the summer months.

A beehive of jumps, kickers, moguls, race gates, jib features and more, the glacier is open during June and July. The pro sightings are out of control, and industry media descend upon Horstman Glacier from all over the world to document the big names in the skiing and snowboarding world. Meanwhile, there are also several lanes and a small terrain park open to the public.

Access the Horstman Glacier by uploading the Wizard Express chairlift from the base of Blackcomb Mountain, followed by the Solar Coaster chairlift. From there, take a short shuttle bus to the base of 7th Heaven chairlift and then head up the chair. There are two t-bars accessing the glacier.

Public skiing is meant for intermediate or above ability level.

Summer Glacier Camps

A number of well-known summer camps call Whistler Blackcomb their home during the summer, grooming young athletes for future stardom.  From bumps to jumps, there is a broad range of camps for all areas of interest.

Olympic 2010 medallists Alex Bilodeau, Jenn Heil, Dale Begg-Smith and Shannon Bahrke have trained with Momentum Ski Camps where Gold Medallist Alex returned in summer 2010 as a coach.

The Olympics may have come and gone, but with over 11 different ski/ride camps this summer, there's no shortage of Olympic talent on Whistler Blackcomb’s summer glacier.
