Whistler Blackcomb is proud to be the leading corporate sponsor of the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, a registered non-profit organization originally formed by Blackcomb Skiing Enterprises in 1992 to enhance the Mountain’s role as a supporter of the community. 
The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation is dedicated to providing financial support to organizations whose activities provide benefit to residents of the Sea to Sky Corridor in the areas of health, human services, education, recreation, arts & culture and the environment with a special emphasis on youth and family programs.

Under the direction of the Foundation’s President, David Brownlie, and Executive Director, Mei McCurdy, over $9.3 million has been donated to Registered Sea to Sky Charities making it the largest fundraising organization in the area.  With the funds raised between two major annual events, the TELUS Winter Classic and the TELUS Golf Classic, as well as the Founders Pass Program, the Foundation is able to donate over $800,000 annually to local non-profit and registered charities.

Annual Events

TELUS Winter Classic

The TELUS Winter Classic is the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation’s annual winter fundraising event that has been taking place for over 22 years. It is an action packed weekend which includes ski events, the legendary Whistler Winetastic, silent and live auctions, and a signature grand finale themed gala. In 2015 the Winter Classic raised over $320,000 net.

TELUS Golf Classic

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation’s annual TELUS Golf Classic is recognized as one of Whistler’s best tournaments.  Hosted at the beautiful Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, the day starts off with a traditional Texas Scramble accompanied by fun-filled activities and tastings on-course.  After golf, the party heads over to the Fairmont Chateau Whistler hotel for dinner, followed by live and silent auctions, prizes and a great party! In 2015 the Golf Classic raised over $200,000 net.

Founder’s Pass Program

The popular Founders Pass Program is another fundraising vehicle for the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation. $295,000 is raised annually  for Sea to Sky community charities through the sale of 50 VIP season ski passes donated by Whistler Blackcomb.  Each year the Foundation donates these funds as a lump sum to a project that will create a permanent legacy in the Sea to Sky Corridor
The $5,900 CDN pass is fully transferable, 50% tax deductible, and offers unique privileges at Whistler Blackcomb including:

  • Lift Line Priority for the first ride up of the day for the pass-holder and 3 paid guests

Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Environmental Fund

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Environmental Fund (WBFEF) was established in 2001 and is dedicated to providing financial support to qualified donees whose actions show a benefit to the natural environment in the Sea to Sky Corridor.  Funds are donated by Whistler Blackcomb Employees, who can choose to donate $1 or $2 per week (automatically deducted from pay cheques) or lump sum donations via a one-time donation form. All employee donations are matched 100% by the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation. To date, the WBFEF has contributed more than $363,000 to 79 local projects.


With over $9.3 million donated to hundreds of community charities in the Sea to Sky region, the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation has moved mountains for local communities.  Examples of grants that have been made recently include:

  • $35,000 to Whistler Search and Rescue for a new communications system
  • $500,000 to the Audain Art Museum Endowment Fund
  • $7400 to Whistler Animals Galore for new safety kennels
  • Tens of thousands of dollars annually to local food banks including Squamish, Pemberton and Whistler
